3 Tips for Exercise Motivation

Three tips for exercise motivation. Drumming up motivation to exercise is tough, especially for busy women. But there are a few tricks that can help.

First, recruit a friend. Sweating with a buddy will make any type of exercise — walking, biking, taking an aerobics class — more fun.

You also need to find a time that works for you. If you plan to exercise after work but things always seem to get in your way — cooking dinner, sitting on comfy couch or watching a good TV show — you’re probably less likely to feel motivated. Instead, schedule exercise for a time you know you’ll feel energetic and have fewer distractions. That might mean waking up 20 minutes earlier or sneaking out on your lunch hour.

Finally, reward yourself. Tell yourself that after walking three times a week for a month, for instance, you’ll treat yourself to a manicure. Dangling that carrot can be great motivation to keep you going.
