Back in 2005 my husband and I made one of the best decisions in our marriage so far: we adopted our Dachshund/Rottweiler mix, Wilmer (and no, that is not a typo). He was a lot dog from Hurricane Wilma that spent a little time at a Miami pet shelter before we brought him home. We were told during the adoption process that he has a heart murmur that would grow over time, but that didn’t stop us from make him our own as he’s been the sweetest, most patient and loving dog and family member.
Wilmer (yes we named him after the hurricane) is playful, devoted and courageous and I couldn’t have asked for a better pet in our lives. In other words, he is our everything.
That’s why I was happily surprised to find out that Hollywood actor George Clooney recently adopted a dog that no one else wanted at a Cincinnati shelter. The actor adopted a dog named Nate to give to his parents as a Christmas present knowing that he also comes with multiple health issues.
