All 4 Original Wiggles Will Reunite For A Benefit Concert In The New Year!

For about a four year time span, The Wiggles were the most important men in my house. My daughter, who is now 13, was obsessed with the children’s group from Australia, and they have the honour of being her very first concert! Her love of the red, blue, yellow and purple themed group that sang such catchy tunes as ‘Hot Potato’ and ‘Fruit Salad, Yummy Yummy’ was passed on to her younger brothers and was probably the only children’s show that I didn’t dread watching, in fact I loved The Wiggles almost as much as my kids did!

Nowadays The Wiggles are almost unrecognizable to me, with only the Blue Wiggle, Anthony Field being the only original member still performing. That’s about to change now after Field sent a tweet asking if anyone would be interested in a reunion tour with all 4 original members.

The response was overwhelming. The idea for the reunion is to raise money for the band’s friend Dave Savage who was injured in Afghanistan when a suicide bomber detonated near him.  TODAY reports that Field wasn’t sure that adults would want to gather to see a children’s band so he tweeted to see how many people would respond.

“I thought it would be a fun way to raise funds for David, but didn’t know if anyone would be interested as adults in coming to a pub to rock out to ‘Toot Toot, Chugga Chugga, Big Red Car’ or ‘Fruit Salad,Yummy Yummy,'” says Field. “So I tweeted to gauge interest.”

Clearly grown ups are ready to ‘Wake Up Jeff’ and get down with the original Wiggles, including Field, Yellow Wiggle Greg Page, Purple Wiggle Jeff Fatt and Red Wiggle Murray Cook.

Greg had orignally left the group due to health issues, but Field assured everyone that he is definitely in for the reunion concert saying “Jeff has said he ‘is definitely in, if he is still alive!’ – that is Jeff’s humor!” Field reveals. “Greg is in good health now — really healthy and loving life and raring to go – and Murray, as always, is still rocking!”

And while the reunion is only set for Australia right now, Field thinks it might be fun to head to the US for a few dates saying “It would be brilliant fun to do some gigs in the States and maybe find some great charities over there to donate the proceeds to,” says Field. “I guess we better see how this one goes first, though!”

I can’t lie, I think I would definitely go to an adult Wiggles show if I had the opportunity! What do you think Hot Moms? Would you go to this reunion concert especially if it were for charity?
