It really is the season of giving, as one New Hampshire family found out in a very special way.

Robyn Ayres is a mother of two from Raymond, N.H. She went to her local Walmart to put some money down on her $283  layaway bill when the store employee told her that it had been paid off. She told ABC News “He said, ‘A woman saw you and she said wanted to pay a portion of your bill,’ and I just started crying,” Ayres said. “She paid more than half of our bill. It was crazy.”

Robin said she was left with a bill of only $130 and she posted a photo of the note the woman left her, which read “I hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas. The lord is always with you! Have a blessed Holiday Season!”

Robin told ABC news that it has been a particularly hard year for her and her family.

“Within the last year, we had to put our family dog to sleep and had to pay to do that,” Ayres said. “We’ve had several financial setbacks. Our stove busted on Thanksgiving so we didn’t have that and it just pushes you back. We almost lost our house a few years ago and just to see someone doing this just makes us so happy.”

Robin said that this act of kindness has really reaffirmed her faith in humanity, and that she wishes she could thank this woman.

“I wish there was a way to thank the woman,” Ayres said. “I would just say thank you for restoring our faith in humanity in a time that is pretty much dark.”

Just goes to show you that no matter how big or small your act of kindness, it always makes a huge impact.
