After appearing on The View for 10 years and then 2 years sitting on the couch at Fox & Friends, Elisabeth Hasselbeck has announced that she’s leaving her career in television at the end of the year – for the time being at least – to focus on raising her children.
Elisabeth shares 3 children with her retired NFL quarterback husband Tim Hasselbeck, Grace, 10, Taylor, 8, and Isaiah, 6, and in a statement she made on air, she says that she knows she’s making the right decision.
“I am taking a new position as CBO — chief breakfast officer — at our house with the kids, and that does mean that in about a month, I’ll be leaving my FOX News family,” she said on air. “I’m in a season where the kids need the best of me, not the rest of me.”
“Oftentimes, the most difficult decisions are between two great things. With a heart full of gratitude and the peace that God has given me, I am confident that this personal decision is the right one for our family, and we will be joining all of you watching Fox & Friends each morning as we get ready for school together.”
“This is a really, really hard decision but I know it is the right one and I thank you all at home for understanding”
While I don’t think I’ve ever agreed with anything else Elisabeth has ever said on air, I have to admit I applaud her for leaving a rather lucrative career to stay home with her kids. Obviously she’s in a position financially to do it, so that decision was easier for her to make, but nevertheless it takes a lot to leave a career in television (or any other career) and make the decision to stay home with her kids.
