Why kids and dogs sometimes don’t mix.
I’ll start off by saying that my husband and I have been very lucky to be blessed with a wonderful four-legged family member who has been extremely patient and gentle with our children over the years. We adopted our dog a few years before our first daughter was born and it’s been an amazing journey watching him sit near and protect our babies with the utmost concerned. At the same time, he’s learned how to keep his distance when needed while almost acting like a third (and very patient) parent to both of our children. I mean, who else would stay up all night and hover around their bedroom doors whenever they were feeling sick or terrified over one of their dreams?
And as much as we love our dog, we’ve made it clear that when it comes to hygiene and contact, there’s some things we simply don’t do and that’s allow the dog to give our kids (or us) sloppy kisses. Sure, it might be cute, but it’s also incredibly unsanitary. I mean, you’ve seen some of the things your dog has done, right?
Here’s a list of six reasons why you shouldn’t let your family pet lick your children.
