As most parents, I get upset with my children. They don’t put their dishes away, have a hard time picking up their toys in their bedrooms and on some nights go to bed without brushing their teeth. Needless to say, parenting is a struggle and sometimes I truly really do need to remind myself to stop nit picking over the little things in life while taking things for granted. Because after hearing about 6-year-old Leland Shoemake’s story, I personally had to take a moment to stop and think about all the times I was frustrated, upset and angry with my own kids over the simplest, silly little things when in reality I should be more understanding and grateful that they are here, happy, healthy and full of love.Because what Leland did for his parents definitely puts things in perspective for me. The note Leland left to his parents before he died will bring tears to your eyes.
