When is this going to change?
Born and raised in the United States of America, I have to say that there are plenty of wonderful opportunities in this lush and naturally stunning country of ours. But when it comes to being a woman, a wife, and a mother, I do feel as though we are getting shafted in the worst way. While the rest of the western world gets to enjoy full benefits that come with maternity leave, we’re lucky if we can manage to get a few weeks off – with no pay, of course. And don’t even get me started on the outrageously expensive child care….
That’s why I was pretty surprised to hear that even top-earning female executives have to fight for their own maternity leaves, too. One Chief Marketing Officer admits that she truly had to wrestle with her CEO and company to get time off after giving birth to her baby. This is pretty insane, especially considering who the company belonged to!
A former executive at Ivanka Trump’s clothing company says that she had to fight for her own maternity leave!
