So benefits for babies and moms!
After giving birth to my first child, I didn’t have an opportunity to hold him for very long. The nurses and doctors placed my baby boy on my chest for a few minutes. But because we both had some minor complications, he was whisked away from me to be treated.
I didn’t have a Caesarean; I had a vaginal childbirth. It’s common practice for conventional deliveries for newborns to be placed on mom’s bare chest immediately after birth.
But for babies born by c-section, “skin to skin” in the operating room hasn’t usually been an option.
When it comes to having a c-section, shouldn’t doctors be helping women make is as close as possible to a vaginal birth for moms and babies?
