Are schools now making children go hungry because of their parents’ mistakes?

I’m that mom who packs their children’s lunches the night before school, five days a week. Their school doesn’t have staff that cooks food on site and instead has vendors come in everyday with prepared meals from some of our local fast food franchises. Needless to say, I don’t want my kids to eat fast food as part of their school lunch everyday and that’s why I pack for them, even on days that I simply don’t want to.

Yet, I could never imagine how I would feel if a school administrator took my child’s lunch away or worse, refused to serve their lunch because it wasn’t good enough or if I fell behind in payments.

And that’s exactly what one cafeteria worker was forced to do after she was told she needed to take a little boy’s lunch away. Is this even right?!?

Are we really shaming kids’ lunches these days?
