Hold the bubbly!!
Ah champagne. The drink of happiness. You drink it for celebration, you drink it for love, and you drink it for those favorite Sunday brunches to ease away your hangover. According to sommeliers (wine experts) champagne is also the perfect food pairing wine. “As sommeliers when we’re in doubt, we pick a bubbly,” says Keith Goldston, a master sommelier “Because what food doesn’t taste better with a squeeze of lime on it?” It is quite literally, the perfect drink. The region of Champagne, France produces upwards of 300 million bottles of the drink to satisfy our drink cravings each year. However, next year, that number might be quite lower than we would like it to be.
First it was the devastating avocado shortage. Soon after came the calamitous gin shortage. Now, wine makers are warning the world of a potential champagne shortage.
