Total heartbreak for Jerika and her family.

Jerika Bolen, 14, is enjoying her final summer, fulfilling lifelong wishes after telling her mother Jen to unplug her life-sustaining ventilator at the end of August. Jerkia, who spends her days in unbearable pain, has opted to forgo yet another surgery for Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 2 disease. This awful disease has nearly crippled Jerika’s body while destroying her quality of life.

Yet, that’s why she’s decided to spend her last summer doing things any 14-year-old normal teen would do: sleep over with friends, shoot fireworks with their grandparents, and dance before her life ultimately comes to an end in August.
