This Cheerleader Asking A Fellow Student With Autism To Prom Is The Sweetest

Park Vista High School cheerleader Mikal Bartosik had already been to two proms before, so for this prom she wanted to make it special for someone else. Mikal befriended Jonathan, known as “JMR,” at school, last year when she began to sit with him and a few other children in special education classes at lunch time. When the cheerleader was criticized by some friends for sitting with the 'weird kids' she quickly flew to their defense saying “I told them they just have different social issues, different ways of communicating,” she said. “Besides, once you get to know them, they’re not that different and they’re way nicer than kids without disabilities.”Mikal had been thinking about inviting one of the boys from the special education class to prom for the past two years, and when she found out that not one of the kids from the special education class attended prom last year her decision was made.[ad type="aboveimagead1"]
