Why It’s So Important To Be Your Child’s Parent, Not Their Friend

Get friends your own age!

I hear parents often refer to their kids as their ‘best friends,’ and while a piece of me thinks, ‘aw, that’s nice you’re so close’ the rest of me thinks, ‘aw, that’s just weird.’ I love my kids to death, but I’m not their best friend, nor do I ever want to be their best friend. I want them to be able to talk to me and tell me their problems and share their happiness with me, but I think there’s a definite line between being a ‘best friend’ to your child and being a ‘parent’.

One parenting vlogger has hit the nail on the head about why you shouldn’t want to be your child’s best friend in a spot on video that has quickly been making the rounds.
