Bedroom eyes… The most important feature on the face. The eyes can’t be ignored in order to achieve the perfect look.

First, make sure you cover the entire eyelid with base or foundation and finish off with a nice loose powder.

Tip: add some extra loose powder under the eyes for catching the falling eyeshadow, brush off after eyes are complete ; )

Next, brush a soft champagne color over eyelid.

Third, using a small angular brush and a mid-tone brown shadow color, apply to the brow bone toward the out side and work lighter as you come inward toward the center of the eye.

Fourth, you have two choices, with the same shadow that you used for the brow bone, use it for the eye liner. Continue with the same brush and starts at the outside upper lid by the lashes. Think cat-like but subtle, your line should start thicker towards the outside and gets thinner as you work toward the inner eye. Don’t forget to apply on the bottom lash line as well, same technique but even smaller application.

Tip: I don’t go all the way across the bottom lash line to make the eyes appear larger, taper off toward the middle of the eye. Also, shadow works better then liner on bottom lash line. It doesn’t smear as much.

The other option is to use eye liner ( a pencil is best) for the lining of the lash line. Same technique applies but after applied, make sure you blend the line a bit to make it soft and not harsh. Again, thicker toward outer edges.

Tip: Go over eyeliner with the brow shadow to make the liner last all day/night. Dab on, don’t rub.

Fifth, curl those lashes! It opens the eye up even more and finish the eyes with a dark mascara.

Tip: Before curling your lashes, heat it with a blow dryer for better results. Make sure to test on your hand before placing the curler by your eye ; )

Sweet Cheeks….This area should be subtle but it will be missed if too light. Where you place the blush depends on the shape of your face. Oval or narrow faces should apply to the apple of the cheeks only; while round faces or larger faces should be applied more on the cheek bones or the sides of the face. Always use a light “berry” type of color, not one that is too orange or too pink. Using a mid sized blush brush start light in small circular strokes, you can always ad more.

Tip: I have used Blush Baby by MAC for years and seems to work on everybody!

Tip: Use sparingly and when you are completely finished with your make-up look you can reassess your look and always ad more if need be. If you still feel pale ad a touch to your nose and forehead.

small-1Luscious lips….Lip color can vary more then any other application. Try using a color that compliments your own natural skin tones. Think about it, a soft natural color looks more kissable then a loud, bright one. We are going for a beautiful look but also a natural one.

First, for lips that need a liner, pick a very natural color close to the color of the inside of your own lips. Apply softly to the outer edges of your lips and lightly fill in. If it looks too dark, try using your fingers to blend and smooth away a bit.

Next, find a color that is usually a touch lighter. A nice sheen ads extra softness. Remember, natural is best and as the color wears off, it won’t be so noticeable.

Tip: To make the color last a bit longer, apply a thin coat of powder and press in before your glossy lipstick application.

Remember, make-up should enhance your natural beauty, not take it over and practice makes perfect! Here’s to putting your best face forward Hot Moms!
