Now I don’t want to sound like Donald Trump here, but it looks like we are definitely getting a little too politically correct here. Apparently, a mall in Long Island “sterilized” Christmas with their holiday display so their shoppers wouldn’t be offended. Because Christmas trees and white lights are soooo horrible, right?

Well, it looks like Roosevelt Field Mall’s plan quickly backfired on them as many shoppers were downright disgusted over what was supposed to look like a traditional Christmas village, but ended up looking like a spaceship instead.

Facebook user Caren Marie took to her social media account to share her thoughts with the controversial set-up. She wrote:

This is Roosevelt Fields setup this year for photos with Santa. They will not have a tree or any other representation of Christmas because they say it is offensive. If they find Christmas offensive, then they do not deserve to profit from Christmas shopping! Spread the word and shop elsewhere this year!!

Well, it only took about 24 hours for everyone’s voices to be heard as the mall apparently added a few Christmas trees and lights to make the funny looking spaceship look a little more festive. Still, many say it shouldn’t have happened in the first place.

According to the New York Post though, Mall management, which charges anywhere from $24.99 to $59.99 for pictures with Santa inside the holiday display, confirmed the change was made to avoid offending people. And it seems like they did it anyway.

“The people who answered the phone at the mall actually said, in order not to offend anyone, they were simplifying the Christmas display,” said one shopper who decided to boycott the mall.

Honestly, I know a lot of people have different opinions about this, but I personally don’t know many people who are actually offended over holiday décor. Tell us Hot Moms, what do you think? Should retailers keep Christmas the way it is… or water down their holiday bling to help keep the peace? Let us know what you think in the comments section below!
