Mark Zuckerberg has been a bit of a hero lately. Firstly he said he was giving away most of his money to charity because he doesn’t need it.
Secondly, he opened up about the trauma of miscarriage, shedding light on a much ignored issue, and now he’s gone and said something brilliant on Facebook.
On Sunday he announced his plan to build a robot to do his housework (as you do):
Underneath his post Darlene Hackemer Loretto posted, wanting to thank him for how Facebook has improved her life.
I have to assume Zuckerberg’s response was thinking quick in response...
But if you’re a parent, aunt, uncle, grandparent, teacher, or some other figure in a young girl’s life, I’d like to ask that you think twice before encouraging her to “be the nerd.” We do not need to play into adolescent stereotypes of how others may behave from a social standpoint. Instead let’s emphasize, how their hard work and ingenuity pays off. You don’t have to be a nerd to get that!
