Halloween is a tricky holiday when you have kids. You want to be home to give out the treats, but you also want to be able to door to door and see your kids get so excited when they trick or treat. Or maybe your kids are grown and you don’t want to be bothered with the door bell ringing every 5 seconds. Many people, especially around where I live, have started putting out bowls of candy on their front porch and leaving notes telling trick or treaters to to take a few treats and be on their way.
That’s exactly what this family did, only they set up a hidden camera to see if anyone would help themselves to more than just a ‘few treats’. In the caption on their YouTube page where they posted the video, they wrote ‘Away from home, we left full-sized candy bars outside with a note, “Help yourself but be considerate!” We figured a group of kids would probably end up taking all of the candy at one point during the night, but everyone was really considerate…until this upstanding mother came to save the day.’
Honestly, you might think that maybe a few kids would pocket more than their fair share of candy, especially since these were full size bars, but who would have though a MOM would be the one to encourage her kids to take all the loot?
I certainly hope she needed all those chocolate bars to give to kids who couldn’t go trick or treating because I can’t believe that a grown woman would encourage her kids to be so greedy and inconsiderate.
Check out the video below and let me know what you think. Do you leave candy on your front porch or are you home to hand it out?
