Celebrity gossip blogger Perez Hilton found himself under fire this week when he posted an innocent snap of himself and his son Mario in the shower to his Instagram page.
While the blogger is most well known for his celebrity gossip site, he posted this totally adorable pic of him and Mario in the tub with the caption ‘Our family motto is: #fun! We try and incorporate fun into as much of the everyday things we do! #Bathtime. The picture shows only little Mario’s smiling face and dad Perez’s goofy grin. Clearly the two are having fun and there’s nothing out of the ordinary about a father and a son sharing bath time together. But of course this is the internet so the trolls had to come out, with some commenters writing that the pic was ‘creepy’ and that it bordered on ‘child abuse’. One even wrote “He’s another Michael Jackson. Hopefully his kid won’t turn out gay. Sad, sad, sad…”
Fortunately many commenters quickly jumped to Perez’s defence, posting that bathing with your kids is not just normal but a great bonding experience and that Perez was simply sharing a loving father/son experience with his son. Many commenters even stated that the only reason this story is getting any attention is because Perez is a gay single father.
Perez responded to all the ridiculous backlash by posting this to his twitter account
Crazy that this has become today’s hot topic. Seriously, if this were @chrishemsworth and his son, people would not be reacting this way.

I have to agree with him. If this were Chris Hemsworth we’d all be oooohing and aaaaahing about how amazing the picture was, but since it’s a man who’s a single father who happens to be gay, the internet trolls come out! It’s a shame that people feel the need to make such horrible comments, especially on such a cute and innocent picture. We’ve seen more flesh in any random bathing suit commerical and there’s certainly nothing improper about this picture. Perez often shares photos of his two children on his Instagram page and enjoys documenting life as a father of two young children so it’s awful that he’s had to endure this kind of reaction.
Do you think there’s anything wrong with this kind of picture being posted to Instagram? Do you think that celebs shouldn’t post pictures of their kids online?
