Should Expectant Moms Get Their Own Public Parking Spaces Now?

Should pregnant women get preferential treatment when it comes to parking? That’s the new topic of conversation this week as some people are arguing that mamas-to-be should get a special “Stork Parking” spot at malls, restaurants, and other public places.

But even with our swollen feet and achy backs, do we really need it? Here’s a little more from Yahoo Parenting:

Earlier this week, New York City councilmen David Greenfield and Donovan Richards introduced a bill that would grant special parking permits to moms-to-be suffering from tough pregnancy complications hindering their mobility.

These permits would allow women to park in spots that are typically designed at standing-only or prohibited by time constraints or other rules. “Women in this situation deserve the courtesy of a permit allowing them to park closer to their destination, as long as they are medically qualified,” Richards tells DNAinfo.

But then again, pregnancy is not a disability, yet it technically is a self-inflicted condition (am I not right mamas?). As much as a pregnancy parking space would be so convenient for all the expectant mamas out there, I’m sure there are people that really, truly do need that space more than us.

And while we may not be as nimble or fast both mentally and physically while pregnant, I’ll surely give up my parking space for someone who truly needs it more than me.

Thoughts, Hot Moms?
