JC Penny’s has pulled a T-shirt for girls ages 7-16 that reads “I’m to pretty to do homework, so my brother has to do it for me” Now, J.C. Penny was promoting the shirt before the protesters started tweeting about it. They now have pulled the shirt and have released a statement saying ” J.C. Penny is committed to being America’s destination for great style and great value for the whole family. We agree that the “Too Pretty” T-shirt does not deliver an appropriate message, and we have immediately discontinued it’s sale. Our merchandise is intended to appeal to a broad customer base, not to offend them. We would like to apologize to our customers and are taking action to ensure that we continue to uphold the integrity  of our merchandise that they have come to expect”

I have to say, being a “woman” and knowing the perceptions about women growing up and raising a daughter myself, I am offended by the shirt!  I can’t believe anyone would think it’s ok to buy this shirt for their daughter. Women have come a long way in the equality battle and we have proved over and over again just how smart we really are! To undermine our intelligence with worst of all, outer beauty, is beyond uncalled for. It is down right harmful at such a young and impressionable age. We fight this battle all day long on billboards, magazines, T.V., etc….  No need to go buying our daughters validation for their self worthlessness!

Now, having stated my opinion, I want to hear from you. Do you agree  with the harm or do you think, hey, it’s just a t-shirt. Would you buy the shirt for your daughter?  We want to hear your opinion.
