Newborn photoshoots can be tricky, mostly because you never know how a baby will react on the day of the pictures. They could be fussy or overtired or even gassy, but few of us normally have to worry about the local wildlife getting in the shot!
Megan Rion of Imagine That Photography was busy taking pictures of 1 month old Conner in an Autumn themed photoshoot when she had a visitor, a deer by the name of Maggie. Megan told me that they had set up the photoshoot at Sam Houston Jones State Park in Moss Bluff, Louisiana and had set up baby Conner for the shoot. Megan was trying to get him in to position and Maggie ‘just strolled up behind us.’ She explained that her assistant took an ear of corn from her set up to coax Maggie to look straight.
“Not only did she look my way, she came up calmly walking towards baby Conner and our setup. I got a couple shots then we were done. You can tell its Maggie in each and every picture because of the knotch in her ear. She was bullied as a younger deer because of the human scent on her. She was a rescue dropped off at the park so she has been hand fed for years.”
Megan says that Maggie doesn’t show up for every photo shoot, but that she picks and chooses her appearances!
‘She has been in 5-6 photoshoots. Conner was the first baby Maggie came to join in the session, but not the first time we had taken pictures with Maggie. The older kids are super excited about the deer, some even call it a horse but are still very calm and endearing around it. Maggie the deer has become very popular in our photographs but we cannot guarantee she will be there for upcoming shoots. She just makes our photoshoots more magical when she does appear.’
Magical indeed! Check out some of these other shots that Maggie has wandered in to.
Little Connor’s mom was able to catch some video of Maggie photobombing her son’s first photoshoot too and it’s just simply amazing.
These will be amazing photos this family will treasure for years! Amazing! To see more of Imagine That Photography by Megan Rion check out their facebook page here.
