Trend Report: Five Fall Fashion Trends
For stress-free dressing this fall, stock your wardrobe with these five fashion trends. They’ll not only take you from the office to cocktail hour, they’re versatile enough to stay in wardrobe rotation until well into spring. A no-fuss hairstyle works with all these fall fashion staples. Try a messy bun or chignon either at the top of your head or low and slightly off to the side.
Ankle Boots: With so many styles to choose from this season, this foot candy is a must-have addition. You can find chunky heels with buckle details, or stilettos in polished leather, and everything in between. For a flirty date night look, try adding a fun sock or patterned hosiery and wearing your ankle boots with a dress or skirt.
Felt Hats: Whether it’s floppy, fedora or pageboy style, you’ll add instant chic to any outfit pairing with millinery in felt. Try felt hats that come in color blocks like Bordeaux and black or heather gray and plum.
Leather: If you don’t have one leather piece in your closet, run to your nearest fashion boutique. The most modern picks combine leather and fabric. Consider a pencil skirt, motorcycle jacket or leggings. Not into real leather? There’s plenty of faux and vegan options as well.
Menswear Fabric: Plaid, houndstooth, checks, pinstripes and herringbone are all adjectives you’ll want in your fashion vocabulary and your closet. From traditional color combos like black and white to gray and burnt orange or burgundy and cream, you can find these patterns in pants, blazers, skirts and dresses.
Mid-Century: Inspired by Mad
Men and Hitchcock’s cool heroines, designers have updated ‘50s and ‘60s
styles for today’s working woman. Below-the-knee pencil skirts, A-line dresses,
fitted sweaters and belted overcoats are showing up in beautifully textured
fabrics. Invest in a piece in a luxe fabric, and you’ll have a wardrobe classic
that will last for years.
