Want Good Kids? Stop Telling Them They Are Amazing

I love my kids, but I’m not one to praise them by saying OMG-you’re-so-amazing-great-job-that-was-fantastic-way-to-go-you-superstar for doing something they are supposed to do like flush the toilet (mostly because it hasn’t happened yet). And while I do want my children to grow up with a healthy dose of good self-esteem, I don’t want my kids thinking they are more than what they really are (if you know what I mean).

According to the Daily Mail, Dr. Leonard Sax has a new book out called “The Collapse of Parenting.” He says that parents are no longer the ones in charges at home and that teaching children that they are awesome all the time might result in them growing up as unfulfilled adults.
