We all know how important it is for our kids to start off the day in a positive way. We make sure they get up with enough time to eat a good breakfast before they head off for their school day and we wish them a good day as they head out the door, but this one dad has taken things a step further to ensure his son starts the day on a positive note.
Jenabu Williams posted this video to his YouTube page of he and his son Joshua reciting a pledge that Jenabu wrote, which enforces positive values and encourages his son to basically be the best person he can be. In the pledge Jenabu’s son promises to ‘ignore all negative influences in the classroom and throughout the school day’ and to ‘think before he reacts’ when confronted with conflict. He writes ‘The Bible says “Train up a child in the way he should go and when he gets old he will not depart!” After developing a Pledge for my Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity – Chi Sigma Chapter, Sigma Beta Male Mentoring Clubs members I decided to make one for my own son! Who knew he would memorize it in less than 2 months.’
I think this is great, and you can see Joshua really getting in to the pledge as he recites it, embracing the words. He seems legitimately excited to get to school after. I love at the end when Jenabu encourages the viewers to simply start off the day with something positive, which really does make all the difference for our kids.
Check out the video below and let me know if you do anything special before your kids go to school each day.
