I have a love and hate relationship with Wal-Mart. By that, I mean I love Wal-Mart for its low prices (and convenience as I can get anything and everything in the store whenever I shop there) but I also hate it for a good number of reasons that would be too long to list here. Well, America’s favorite retailer has done it again by sparking controversy with an Israeli soldier costume for kids.
A lot of critics are saying that the costume is rather insensitive (duh) because of the increased Israeli-Palestinian violence we’ve been seeing lately.
On Twitter, @imAK48 wrote, “For only $29, your kid can dress like he guns down Palestinian kids!” and @Adeeba___ posted, “Hey, @Walmart, do you realize you’re supporting the killing and occupation of innocent children with this costume?”
Honestly, I would have to agree. Who on Earth came up with this costume idea and how in the world did it get marketed? I would hope that Wal-Mart would do the right thing and pull it off its shelves, but so far the company hasn’t done anything.
Thoughts, Hot Moms?
