For six weeks the nation has held its collective breath, following the disappearance of 15-year-old Elizabeth Thomas, who had allegedly been abducted by Tad Cummins, her 50-year-old former teacher.

Every news report seemed to detail the countless ways they could have gone off the grid. TV talking heads even suggested they could be in Mexico – if they were still alive. But on Friday Thomas’ family was blessed with good news. She had been found. Of course, now the fascination with her state of mind begins.
