I never believed the rumors that Beyoncé and JAY-Z named their twins Bea and Shawn Carter Jr. They just seemed too convenient to me. The rumor appeared on a gossip website, from an unnamed source and I always read – and report on – those stories with a healthy dose of skepticism. Yes, sometimes they’re right, but in this case, with this couple, I wasn’t convinced.
When it comes to sharing their private business, Beyoncé and JAY-Z are micromanagers who like to control the flow of information from their camp. They’re never going to do exclusive, sit down interviews with a glossy magazine spilling their guts about the ups and downs of their relationship. They’d rather pen albums, leave huge hints, make you pay for them and play guessing games instead. When Blue Ivy was born they didn’t wait for the paparazzi to get the first pictures of her, or sell them to PEOPLE, they released their own instead. That’s why a step they took last week is the biggest indication yet that Bea and Shawn Jr. are not their twins’ names.
