Sometimes I’m amazed there are still people out there who think that having a c-section is the ‘lazy way out’ of childbirth. As someone who had her first child naturally, only to be followed by three c-sections, (one emergency, one a failed VBAC and one scheduled) I can assure you there’s nothing lazy about having your stomach and uterus cut open and a child taken out. Nothing.
Perhaps it was when the phrase ‘too posh to push’ went mainstream after rumors of celebrities scheduling c-sections to avoid having to go through a ‘messy’ labor surfaced back in the early 2000’s.
No matter how you have your baby, I can guarantee it wasn’t easy. Even if you had a relatively quick and easy natural childbirth, every woman deals with body changes and after birth pains and months of recovery until you start to feel ‘normal’ again.
Chontel Duncan, the fitness model and gym owner who went viral for her fit baby bump pictures, recently welcomed her second son with husband Sam via c-section, and she has some pretty harsh words for those who accuse her of taking the ‘easy way out.’
