When it comes to the Duggar family, there’s no denying that their fans absolutely love them while their critics… loathe them. There’s just no in between with the Duggars. Either you agree to their lifestyle choices or you simply don’t.
And it seems like Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar like to operate their household the same way. Either their kids obey their rules, or we’re really not sure but comes to think of it we haven’t seen many Duggars step out of line (except for Josh Duggar but we won’t get into that right now). Maybe it’s because they have a strict set of household rules for their kids. I guess you can say that everything about their lives is micro-managed, from how they can have fun, when they can have fun and who they can have fun with. Ok, maybe it sounds worse than it really is, but here are 6 of the strictest Duggar family household rules, as told by the adults and kids themselves.
From dating to dancing, here are what the Duggar family rules!
1. Dates With Chaperones
Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar often accompany their kids on dates in order to maintain accountability and keep things from going in the wrong direction. At least, that’s what they think.
The girls are fine with this, as they think that being alone with men puts them in moral danger. That’s why daddy is always around! When the parents aren’t available, their older siblings tag along.
2. No Divorce
A source close to the family told People Magazine regarding Josh and his wife, Anna: “Divorce is not even something that will be discussed. [Anna] is fully and permanently committed to her marriage and her children. And she’ll have the support of Jim Bob and Michelle and everyone else in their circle in terms of staying with him and making this work.”
3. Michelle and Jim Bob Read Everyone’s Texts
Yes, Jim Bob and Michelle read all of their children’s text messages, regardless of how old they are. Once Ben Seewald jokingly wrote to fiancée Jessa, “Give me a ring.” Jim Bob’s reply? “No ring yet.” Could you imagine being in your mid-twenties and still have your parents reading all of your texts?!
