Fall Fashion: The Busy Mom’s Guide to Oversized Sweaters

Fall is my absolute, hands down favorite season! From the colors of the leaves to the crisp cold air to the wonderful aromas of pumpkin spice, it is all so comforting. Another reason I love Fall is for the clothes. What woman doesn’t love a good sweater and a killer pair of boots?

For this Fall season I went to Sears to shop for my fall fashion needs because I know that I can find fun brands like Kardashian Kollection, Miss Chievous and Canyon River Blues. Here I am going to show you How to Wear Oversized Fall Sweaters. It doesn’t have to take a lot of effort and it doesn’t have to break the bank.

1) Let the Sweater do the Talkin’ You can say a lot without saying a word when you choose a patterned sweater like this striped one from Canyon River Blues. The cowl neck makes for a flattering neckline and allows for you to add a cute necklace if you choose to. I opted not to. Throw on a pair of leggings and take out those boots you’ve been wanting to wear all year and bam! You are dressed to impress without any stress. What I liked most about this sweater was the lovely Fall colors it has and the fact that I could wear it in so many ways– leggings in brown or beige would work as well as jeggings or skinny jeans. You could also go the flat shoes route.

2) Dress up Plain Jane If you love accessories, a plain colored sweater like this one, also from Canyon River Blues, is ideal because you can dress it up and you have plenty of options. I especially liked the faux leather brown belt that came with this sweater. Paired with some cozy furry boots and leggings this casual sweater look can be worn on a date night, to a Mom’s Night Out or just around town running errands. Keeping it simple and keeping it real.

3) Be Yourself Sometimes a printed sweater just jumps out at me, especially if it has animal print. This one from Miss Chievous has a subtle enough print for a mom to pull it off without looking too young. It’s playful and sometimes fashion needs to be fun. This sweater called for some fun earrings, skinny jeans and some booties. I’d wear this outfit out for a date night with hubs. When looking at oversized sweaters make sure it is who you are.

A few more tips for purchasing your oversized sweaters– always make sure to C.Y.C Cover Your Crotch. It’s just not appropriate for a mom to wear leggings and show the crotch area so make sure your sweater is long enough to cover it. Also, wear a camisole if needed because some of the oversized sweaters mean an oversized neckline and with all the bending we do no one wants to reveal more than necessary. Lastly, go for the bold! Don’t be afraid to try new things and step outside your comfort zone once in a while.
