In some states, you will pay more for day care than college.
I might be in the minority here, but when my children were little, I didn’t send them off to daycare. Being a stay-at-home mom I wanted to be present for those first few crucial years. Plus, I thought it was pointless for me to be home and send off my kids to daycare or preschool. I mean, what was the point of me being a mom if I delegated my responsibilities to someone else for a few hours a day each week?
But the biggest reasons why my husband and I opted out of sending our children to daycare is because we simply couldn’t afford it. Even if I did work a full-time job back then, I’m sure more than half of my salary would go towards daycare costs. Any working parent will tell you that child care rates have skyrocketed and as a result, daycare is much more expensive in some states than sending your child off to college! A new list is out detailing the states with the most expensive daycare rates. It's outrageous!
