One more year of pre-school is a good thing.
Even though I’ve been EXTREMELY happy with my son’s Kindergarten experience thus far (because his teacher is simply out-of-this world ahhhmazing, and I really truly do mean that), I haven’t had any gripes about his first year as a full-time student. Yet, there’s a new report that says if we delayed Kindergarten enrollment for our kids, it would benefit them greatly as studies show that it reduces ADHD in children. This is mostly because many parents believe that Kindergarten is the new First Grade, in which students are expected to do homework, projects and read at a certain level before the end of the year.
In other words, kids are spending more time pushing pencils then running around in the school playground, which is causing many kids to fall behind when they are being expected to stay with the pack.
