Is 2 months too early to let your baby cry it out?
The ‘cry it out’ method is one that many parents have very different, very passionate opinions about. Personally, I used it for my kids and it worked great, but I didn’t start until they were between 6-8 months old. However, a large pediatric practice in New York is now saying that it’s ok to let babies as young as two months old ‘cry it out’ and many are disagreeing with this finding. An article in the Wall Street Journal says that Tribeca Pediatrics, a long time proponent of the cry it out method, otherwise known as the extinction method, is now recommending that you can start sleep training at a much younger age than was previously recommended. According to the article, “Michel Cohen, Tribeca Pediatrics’ founder, began advocating sleep training at 2 months a decade ago based on his experiences with his own children and those of his patients.” While I’m a big believer in sleep training, even I find 2 months quite early to begin Source: Shutterstock
