New Survey Suggests Americans Think Moms Should Stay-at-Home

Before I gave birth to my first daughter well over a decade ago, I knew I wanted to be a stay-at-home mother.  We didn’t live near family at the time and I constantly worried about having to leave my newborn daughter at a daycare in order for me to go back to work. After all, maternity leave only lasts about 5 to 6 weeks for the average mother.

That’s why I decided to be a stay-at-home mom. A stay-at-home working mom, if you will. To this day I really thank my lucky stars for being able to work from home while raise my family simultaneously. It’s not always easy (especially now that my kids are older and I need to be more attentive to their needs), but it works for us. I’m there when they need me and at this stage in their lives, my presence is important. With that being said, it’s also the reason why so many Americans want mothers to stay at home. And the reasons behind it will surprise you.

Stay-at-home moms are finally getting the respect they have been looking for!
