Why Not Get A Second Opinion?
As a child I had braces…Not because of crooked teeth but because I had TMJ. As I grew older, my teeth shifted on the bottom. I became extremly annoyed that my parents paid soooo much money and I was going to need them fixed again!!!
One day my dentist suggested that I really needed to fix them! To be honest, I did not really trust it. I thought it was more cosmetic and not really something I NEEDED to do now. He suggested it was for healtheir teeth later on and that it would be a better choice to do it now.
So I went out and got my second opinion … He was right, not trying to trick me into anything and the best part was that he showed me all options and prices. Which I compared to the other dentist. I had no idea that I am not in the NORM for asking for a second opinion?
I assumed everyone did this!! I mean why wouldn’t you get a second opinion?
“A recent poll, conducted online by Harris Interactive on behalf of Invisalign® among over 2,000 U.S. adults in July 2013, reveals that 70 percent of U.S. adults said they would seek a second opinion for a major home repair and/or improvement, more than half would for a major car repair, and 30 percent would for personal electronics repair. By contrast, just 19 percent said they have sought a second opinion for a medical condition, 17 percent for a medical procedure and just 6 percent for dental work.”
No matter what you choose to do I can tell you that more often than not, some dentists just aren’t trained on all of the products or aware of all of the technology that is offered. You can always search for an Invisalign provider in your area and get your first or second opinion.
