This is every parent’s worst nightmare.
A Michigan mother has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and first-degree child abuse after her 6 month old son died of suffocation.
The boy died after his mother put him in bed with her to sleep and he became wedged between the wall and the bed. Her lawyer is arguing the charges against her are too severe, and she’s already suffering enough.
Leslie Neuman had reportedly drank alcohol the evening of December 29 before she took her 6 month old son to bed with her, PEOPLE reports.
Her son Connor Kleemann died after he suffocated when he became wedged between the bed and the wall. Her attorney argues the charges are far too severe.
“She’s been going through hell since this baby died,” attorney Maggie Cotant says of Neuman. “It’s a tragic, horrible accident. It’s a punishment in and of itself that she has to live with forever. They made it sound like she did this horrible thing.”
