This is truly one of the saddest and most horrific cases I’ve ever read about.
A Georgia woman has been charged in the deaths of two of her children, and the details surrounding how the children died are almost too much to bear.
24-year-old Lamora Williams has been charged with murder in the deaths of her 1-and 2-year-old sons, Ja’Karter Penn and Ke-Yaunte Penn after police say she put them in the oven and turned it on.
Williams then allegedly made a video-chat call to the father of the boys, Jameel Penn, to show him what she had done to their sons.
Police state when they arrived at the home the boys had burn marks on their bodies. A stove was also removed from the home by the police.
Family members of Williams state that the single mother of 4 had been struggling with mental health issues for years, and possibly with postpartum depression at the time of the boys’ deaths. While they are horrified at what they think may have happened, they feel they’ve been let down by the system and the State and that this tragic, senseless crime could have been prevented.
“It was like a real horror movie. it was Friday the 13th,” he said. “When I saw my kid, how I saw my kid, that’s when I knew what was going on.”
Jameel Jr. was unharmed, although police believe he witnessed what happened to his brothers.
The AJC reports that Williams initially told police she had left her sons with a caregiver at approximately noon, returning home late in the evening to find her sons dead and the caregiver gone, but they had probably cause to not believe her story.
