Every mom knows this to be a universal truth: the quickest way to get mom-shamed is by posting a picture of your kid in a car seat on the internet. There is always SOMETHING wrong. Some wayward strap, or the shoulders aren’t where they should be. And don’t even get me started on the rear-facing/forward-facing debate. Some of the most brutal internet throw downs I’ve ever witnessed were about car seats! So when Olivia Wilde posted a sweet picture of her son sleeping in his car seat, I winced and braced for the impact. I’m not one of those moms who scrutinizes every single inch of a car seat picture, just looking for a mistake. But we all know, those moms are out there, and they never pass up an opportunity to speak up.
Unsurprisingly, because she’s human, there was a very common mistake with the chest clip of her son’s seat. It’s a mistake we all make, of that I am sure. But while my friends would either ignore it (knowing that it would be fixed) or reach out to me privately, Olivia is a celebrity. And celebrities, it seems, are fair game for attacks on the internet. At least, that seems to be the general consensus.
