For many women, morning sickness during pregnancy is an inconvenient trouble, but it’s a temporary one. It may make them throw up a few times, or have a sour stomach, or cause them to turn away their typical favorite foods, but that’s about it. After around 12 weeks, the curtain of constantly feeling nauseous fades and life goes on as their bellies grow.
For other women though, “morning sickness” is a much more dangerous condition. Although it’s not completely understood hyperemesis is a complication that can happen in some pregnancies and lead women to literally have non-stop puking. The constant vomiting can quickly lead them to become dehydrated, putting their own health and the health of a growing baby at risk. More women are aware that hyperemesis exists, especially after Kate Middleton was hospitalized with it and more women are sharing their own stories of dealing with the condition.
But one woman’s remedy for dealing with her own nausea is raising some eyebrows.
