Pregnant Woman Delivers Her Own Baby During Hurricane Irma

When I was 11-years-oid my family and I were on a vacation on the U.S. Virgin Island of St. Thomas and I remember getting very nervous at the end. Hurricane season was coming. There may have even been one on the way. I can’t remember. But I do know I was desperate to get home to the U.K. so that we could avoid it.

And we did. Then about a month later The Great Storm of 1987 blasted Britain with hurricane winds. Trees fell, people died, as a result of the worst storm to hit the U.K. in nearly 300 years. So I can only imagine what it must have been like for those in Florida being trapped as Hurricane Irma pummeled the area over the weekend. It’s an event that one pregnant woman will never forget.
