Rebooting Your Relationship
Finding time for romance can be stressful when you’re trying to juggle work, the kids, and the bills. You barely have time to find a babysitter, let alone plan a romantic date. Then there’s the expense
—dinner, a movie, the babysitter, and gas can easily add up to $200 or more.
Don’t let that discourage you! It’s so important to make time for ‘couple time,’ so that you and your partner can be the best parents you can be. Plus, modeling a healthy, loving relationship to your kids so that they have a better chance of enjoying the same in adulthood is priceless.
The good news is that with just an Internet connection, digital camera, cell phone, and a couple tried and true “Romance 2.0” tips, you’ll be well on your way to rediscovering the passion and fun that made you fall in love in the first place.
• Textual Healing. Whether it’s a sexy voice mail, instant message, or an email with a suggestive subject line, surprise your man with digital “pillow talk.” The perfect way to break the monotony of the workday—and build anticipation for when you’re finally alone. Or, try high tech flirting by sending sassy text messages throughout the day.
• Make a modern-day mix-tape. Create a playlist of love songs on his iPod. Include songs that remind you of fun times, his faves and yours. Create a fun/sexy name for the playlist that will catch his eye next time he’s looking for something to listen to.
• Create your own “Strip-O-Gram”. New online photo service Snapily uses special effects like 3D and animation to create “LivingPrints”–printed cards that bring personal photos to life. Snapily has introduced a variety of sexy themes–from burlesque pin-up to Harlequin romance novels to help you get started–so you can create personalized printed cards that move, shake and shimmy. Our good friend Kristy Swanson created one and loved it so much she’s giving it to her fiancé on their wedding night! Check it out.
• Treasure Hunt. Use an online mapping program, like Google Maps, to create a map of all of your “Love Landmarks” e.g., your first date, first kiss, that spot with the terrific mojitos. Use the “send” feature to email the map straight to your husband’s inbox and send him on treasure hunt.
Technology has made everything from communicating to shopping easier, faster, and less expensive. Now add recapturing romance to the list!
