I’ve witnessed firsthand what it’s like for someone to lose the love of her life – suddenly – and then, miraculously, find love again, just as intense and sweet and beautiful in its own way. It’s such a blessing to see such happiness emerge and heal a heart that had been assaulted with pain, grief, shock and loss.
So I felt a lot of empathy for Patton Oswalt when his wife Michelle McNamara suddenly died in 2016 after they had been married for 11 years. I didn’t even know who he was at the time. But I’ve admired the way the comedian has been open about the grief that he and their now 8-year-old Alice felt. Now it seems that father and daughter have a lot to smile about.
