An Addiction To Posting Selfies Is Actually A Real Mental Condition

Or maybe you know someone who does!

We all know that one person who is obsessed with taking selfies. We all have that friend, acquaintance or co-worker whose Instagram feed is literally one big selfie. Maybe it’s even your own child, or you!

I am not the sort of person who enjoys taking selfies. Maybe it’s because I’m in my forties, but every time I take a selfie I delete it! No matter what I can always find fault in my own selfie. But I do have some friends who are masters at taking selfies. It kind of makes me jealous sometimes they are so good at taking selfies.

When you think of taking selfies you definitely think of the Kardashians. The reality TV family made taking selfies popular. One look at their social media accounts and you will see they are professional selfie takers.

But has society gone too far with selfies? Are we all a bit too self obsessed, constantly taking pictures of ourselves? Some think taking selfies is innocent behavior, but researchers have now determined that constantly taking selfies isn’t just self indulgent. There are scientists who are saying there is a mental condition related to selfies, and they’ve even given it a name.

A condition that compels people to take selfies and post them? Um… OK?
