Maiya James may only be 16-years-old, but she’s wise beyond her years.
The teenager from West Philadelphia had seen her mom work hard, and struggle on a daily basis to take care of her disabled sister, Mariah. Mariah suffers from cerebral palsy and epilepsy, and is completely blind.
Recently, Mariah had her spine fused and now needs round-the-clock attention, and extensive medical care. Maiya’s mom Katherine, would use the family van to take Mariah to her frequent medical appointments.
But then, the van broke down. Maiya wanted to help.
