About the Fragrances
After months of fan anticipation, Beyoncé’s first fragrance debuted in February 2010 and was a instant hit. The name is derived from the singer’s years of touring: “A lot of my performances have had fire involved, so we thought ‘Heat.’ Also, red is one of my favorite colors, as is gold,” she told a magazine in 2009. According to Yahoo! Search, this latest addition to Spears’ perfume empire (she currently has 7!) is also her most popular. No surprise really: whatever spritz Britney creates turns to gold—she’s currently the number one seller in the celeb fragrance market. Though it’s hard to believe a 17-year-old knows much about how a grown woman should smell, the Bieb’s wildly popular scent is for a good cause: A portion of the proceeds go toward Pencils of Promise (a philanthropy that builds schools) and the Make-A-Wish foundation. The mega-star’s eponymous fragrance hit stores last May following a controversial ad campaign that many believed played on Aniston’s “lonely”, “sad”, “jilted” image.
