Why are Americans so obsessed with youth culture? Today’s society is obsessed with looking and acting young. We are bombarded with images in magazines, television, movies and social media about looking young.
While some people feel younger on the inside, they may appear older on the outside.
Getting older is not valued in society and the more people are not seen as valuable, they are dehumanized. There seems to be a negative stigma society has given to aging, and it sucks.
Our society and culture is all about the look and the image, not about the experience and wisdom of getting older.
So when articles telling women what they should and shouldn’t wear by a certain age starts trending, we get angry.
