This Woman’s Sign Language Order With A Starbucks Barista Is Incredible!

With over 20% of the US population experiencing some form of hearing loss, this is really incredible. Rebecca King is deaf and uses sign language to communicate. The young woman was stunned when she popped in to her local St. Augustine’s Starbucks in Florida and her barista communicated back to her on a video screen that popped up in sign language. Rebecca decided to return to her Starbucks the next day and film her experience.

Since Rebecca posted the video interaction of herself and 22 year old barista Katie Wyble to facebook it has been viewed more than 175k times.  Starbucks recently installed the video cameras in the drive tru, and Wyble said she didn’t initially look at the screen when she went to take the order. Wyble says she knows King as a regular so when she recognized her on the video she immediately began signing with her.

Rebecca told First Coast News “It is a big deal to (the) deaf community that Starbucks has one now. Nowhere else has that!” said King. “We all want to have that at every drive thru in the world.”
