On Sunday, Sept. 9, Whole Foods Market will donate $1 for every pound of food purchased at its salad and hot food bars in its Southern Pacific region stores. Southern California, Hawaii, Arizona and Las Vegas Stores are all participating to help put local salad bars in their schools!!
How amazing is that? We have to find a healthier way to feed our children at school. No more “ketchup is a vegetable.
My Children have been eating salad since they were able to chew. They really do ask for salad at lunch and dinner ( I always give in, because I simply can’t say… I am too tired to make it!). I’ve found that a good way to make it even easier is that I chop up lettuce early in the week and place it tightly in a ziplock bag with paper towel.. They love Romaine and Arugula.. and then add all kinds of veggies.. Their list? Baby Tomatoes, Carrots, Zucchini ( which they prefer raw), Broccoli, Peppers and Cucumbers… sometimes we add Jicama and Celery! They really enjoy adding cranberries and nuts and often will ask for the “lemon dressing”.. get this it is 4 ingredients.. lemon, a splash of olive oil or coconut oil salt and pepper.
