Writer Goes on Rant Complaining of How Some Parents Keep Their Kids Quiet Because We Can’t Win

A few years ago my family and I went on a Disney Cruise. It was a lot of fun and we had the time of our lives. And while we took a lot of Instagram and social media-worthy photos on our trip, we did have a few behind-the-scene meltdown moments. I mean, it was a vacation after all. No family vacation is complete without toddler temper tantrums and tears.

With that being said, we did have a bit of an incident during dinner one night. Our kids, for the most part, are pretty well behaved but that night they just weren’t having it. And while it really didn’t bother me, what bothered me most was the stares we were getting from a family at a nearby table. I guess we must have bothered the crap out of them because the family (which consisted of a mom, dad and two pre-teen children) were all pretty well occupied on their tablets, iPhones and handheld devices. Say what now? Yes, the family of four weren’t even speaking to one another. They were playing on their devices and judging us for having rowdy kids!

With that being said though, there’s one article that is making the rounds this week and making a lot of parents pretty upset. One mom is judging parents who allow their children to play with iPads in restaurants. And as you can imagine, those who do allow their kids to play with electronics don’t appreciate her judgment. Here’s why.

Kids playing with iPads in public…who is right and who is wrong here?
